Completely agree and the problem is that police only enforce at what makes easy money - i.e. speeding.

If they were serious about road safety there would be a much bigger focus on dangerous driving.

South African cars are made so that they're off by 6km/h, meaning if your car says 126 you're actually driving at 120. So you can go all the way to 136 if it's true that there's the 10km/h grace

I also agree. Driving slower than normal is actually reckless and causes accidents. It's the same as just stopping in front of a car driving normal speed and not even having working brake lights.

And driving slower does not cause accidents, it's reckless decision making that causes accidents

WAZE shows your speed, but I still prefer Google maps.

Most car crashes are caused by speeding.

Speed does kill!

If a child or an animal suddenly runs into the road , there is no possibility of taking evasive action if you are doing 170kmh.
You can slow down if you are doing 110kmh.

Don't blame drivers who choose to drive slow i.e. between 100 and 110 km/h.
Of course if slow drivers hog the fast lane that should be roundly condemned.
Or if they drive < 100kmh on the open highways that is wrong.

But don't kid yourself .
Speed kills.

One of the biggest issues regarding speed is not speed per se, but the differences in speed by the individual drivers. The clueless idiot doing 80 in the right lane and who refuses to be in the left lane on the one hand and the arsehole doing 150+ tailgating you when you're doing 130 in the right lane overtaking slower traffic on the left and you can't safely move to the left because of the traffic are just two examples.
Having said that, Ben has a valid point.

Ultimately it is the speed and recklessness of drivers that causes accidents. This morning as I was driving I realised another issue that infuriates a lot of other drivers. It's the speed bipolar drivers who drive slowly when you're in a position where you're unable to overtake and speed up where it's clear for us to overtake so that we are unable to go past. That also is reckless driving and drives us mad

Agree, speed differential and generalised aggression. Some makes ( we all have seen see the VW and Navara nanodick brigade ha ha ) position their marketing that attracts certain personality types.

BMW speedometer error is 3% under, most new vehicles 5% under. The speedo accuracy is not static, it gradually changes as your tyres wear and their circumference deceases. Which is why all speedometers must start off by underreading.

The law allows 10% over true speed.

...under in that your indicated speed is eg 3% under true speed to start with, the indicated speed becomes closer to true speed as the tyres wear.
