Sorry I missed it.

Both are amazing bands.
But need to say: Live would be my favorite.
Wish I could go.....;-)

Tomorrow I'll live Live again.... without my Patti d'Arbanville so it won't quite be the Wild World I had hoped it to be.
Perhaps she'll be my Helo Pinheiro one day, after all I'm just a Playboy ;-)

Who's Live-ing tonight?

Master Skom

Started listening to LIVE yesterday again the WHOLE day and evening whilst consuming copious amounts of nectar (simply to oil the rusted vocal chords) , just to make sure that I have the words to most songs in my head.

LIVE playing again today, so tonight I wil be LIVE-ing it up.

So amped for the show, one thing less on my bucket list.

I am aware of some more people from this world attending tonight. Hoping to "bump" into LINDSAY. Not so sure if she wants to see me, I have this ailment called : roaming hands and eyes. The hands invariably drop down mildy inappropriately to her delectable ass and the eyes can not stop staring at her flawless beauty. Luckily for me she is aware of this ailment and takes counter measures to prevent a situation from developing. Like hitting me.

Enjoy everybody, LIVE is for living.

Cheers

Glad I'm out of there!
It was very, no, VERY disappointing tonight.
Was sitting smack bang in the middle at the back, quite high up - with a resulting view that can't be beaten, so: good for starters.

The Sweet Resistance opened the show - OK, after ol' Barney did, and then the ominous signs were on the wall: well, they were shaken off the wall to be precise, as the bass was the loudest aggressivest earthshaking painful thunder I've ever heard - in comparison to which underground blasting is a moffie! - easily drowning out the meagre midrange, and completely obliviating any highs, these were totally absent!
Ergo little music could be heard whilst one was physically fighting the impacts and the low rumblings, but... that was fine because this band did little to stir me, or most others by the looks of it.
However, the oke who mixes the various music channels and controls the equalizers should be shot: no mercy, he's a doos and doesn't have a clue about tonal balance.

After this ordeal was over some twat switches on bright, wait, BRIGHT, spotlights above the stage which are aimed straight back, towards several thousand people, blinding them for, erm, what, 15 minutes solid? You could not see what was going on on the stage but also, you could not look in the direction of it, these lights were really annoyingly bright..... why oh idiot, WHY did you switch them on, and worse, leave them on???
Shoot this fucker too!

One would expect that a band like Live has their own professional crew for mixing and lighting, but it appears that they left these people at home and made do with the morons present for this show. Because, when they started playing that bass was almost louder - almost, I think it was on Maximum already anyway.
The resultant audible blurr was tactile and shocking, never mind that Live played most of their shit songs.
But even their good songs were raped, by the avalanche of bass and lows, masking and drowning any other tonal group COMPLETELY: the vocals were hardly recognizable, there were zero high's so no crisp qualities at all, and to worsen any discomfort the arsehole manning the lights clearly took sadistic pleasure in flashing and aiming multiple batteries of bright focused spotlights right at the back were, what, some 4000 people were sitting, blinding them and robbing them from any view as to what was going on on the stage?
So, uncomfortably awful... but it got worse.
As time progressed the air became stale and awful, zero doubt solely due to the fact that a few hundred guys on the floor were 'vaping' - massive blasts of smoke were continuously erupting from there, polluting the air to a degree that I had to walk out - which I did, and outside I lit a cigarette. I smoke you see, but at least I have the decency to do this outside bothering noone, proving once again that people who vape are antisocial arseholes!
Because I walked around a bit I found out that those sitting up and next to the stage, on its sides, were spared this bass overload - it was actually bearable there, but once you got more in front of the stage you got literally jolted by these massive pressure waves, fucking awful!

This shows that the acoustics of this arena seriously suck, the MTN Dome is infinitely better in this respect!
I won't be back in this dump, they call it Menlyn Maine?
It's Mainely shit.
Start doing something about it, all the potential is there: get professional people who are not tonedeaf but can actually judge sound, after all the people want to hear music! Then also improve on the airconditioning, and getting a crew of bouncers who'll remove those vaping apes wouldn't be a bad idea either.
But, unless I will start hearing rave reviews from various sources in the future you won't see me back in that shithole!

Master Skom

Thought it was just me that was so disappointed.

Their playlist did not correspond with mine. Sound was horrible, and this was nogals the show that they were streaming and making a DVD ? Steer clear of that.

At some point I was actually looking at my watch praying that time will pass faster just to get out of there.

And now I realise why EVERYBODY that I invisted to go with me declined. It wasn't me, it was the expectation of a KAK concert.

Pretty sure Afrikaans is Groot will be better. Just get a better sound engineer, this one was an abject failure.

And ban the vapes, it is as socially unacceptable as cigarettes.

Sorry for repeating, but it was money and time wasted.

Cheers

Hi Skomhc and INL.

So to start I feel like I was at a different show all together.

I went Friday night. We were right in front of the stage. Only two people between me and the barrier.

As far as the sound is considered. I did notice that it was a little of. But that was with the opening act. We all agreed that she has a good voice but couldn't hear what she was saying. In fact no body could hear. We joked how her looks will give her time enough to learn to sing into the mike.

As for Live, the singing was a lot better but could have been better. I agree that the bass was a little overwhelming. I was saying that there is a couple of people who only know lighting crashes and they are probably going WTF as the music started. Buy it was not to bad, I saw Linken Park, Korn, Muse and 30 Seconds to Mars over the last couple of years and that was the case with their music. So it didn't bother me to much.

I do think that we might have been standing in some sweet spot perhaps. I did get a couple of times where the bass was just to much for the song that they were singing. I thought that the sound engineer obviously don't know the band and their music.

For lighting, no problems from in front the stage. But what you are saying about the spotlight makes perfect sense. The stage was way to bright at times. Perhaps we got use to it. And thinking back it was definitely lights shining in the direction of the upper seats.

Now for the playlist. I loved it, I only missed one song, Dance With You. That would have made my day. We actually had a girl next to us that only came to hear that one song. She doesn't know any of the other songs. I probably would have gone back on Saturday if I could have it added to the playlist.

It's really sad that you all didn't get the same experience as we did. But it has to be a wake up call to the organizers. I would have to hear a lot of good in order to go back to that Arena again.
