The Irony of Life

'Isn't it ironic? We ignore the ones who adore us, adore the ones who ignore us, love the ones who hurt us, and hurt the ones who love us.'

@ pixar :
What you say is very profound.

The basis of Christianity, Islam and Judaism is that if you treat others fairly in this world , you will reap the rewards in the world to come.

Hindus believe in Karma ( treat others fairly and reap the reward in future reincarnations.)

Christians abide by the time-honored biblical injunction :
Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

Sadly I cannot bear the thought that what you say is True-
because it negates all the religion that has been instilled in me .

Ubuntu

'One of the sayings in our country is Ubuntu - the essence of being human. Ubuntu speaks particularly about the fact that you can't exist as a human being in isolation.

It speaks about our interconnectedness. You can't be human all by yourself, and when you have this quality - Ubuntu - you are known for your generosity.

We think of ourselves far too frequently as just individuals, separated from one another, whereas you are connected and what you do affects the whole world. When you do well, it spreads out; it is for the whole of humanity.'

Occupy Someone's Heart

Why Birds Sing

'A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.'

How I Love You

Openness to the World

'To be a good human being is to have a kind of openness to the world, an ability to trust uncertain things beyond your own control, that can lead you to be shattered in very extreme circumstances for which you were not to blame. That says something very important about the condition of the ethical life: that it is based on a trust in the uncertain and on a willingness to be exposed; it's based on being more like a plant than like a jewel, something rather fragile, but whose very particular beauty is inseparable from that fragility.'
