We cater for 35,then add a few more on to that.

With the no shows, we still end up with 35,so that was a good strategy.

When we gave the opportunity to reserve the spots for social it was filled up within 2 to 3 weeks. It was then decided by Steve to give more people the opportunity to attend the social. In my books it was good strategy and made business sense .. all planning from there on was based as if all 55 of us will attend.

Luckily we learn as we go along .. next time we will use a different strategy to make sure that all confirmed guests will attend .. maybe include a free booking or two ;)))

But now on the next social the ESA should have like a waiting stand outside on standby so lets say someone cant come then atleast there is a replacement like when you go to a restaurant and wait for an table ..

Then us that waits outside wil sit and talk rubbish while we wait to go in and if we never did we had our own little social and we can all leave together. Easy as that

My suggestion is that a "joining fee" is charged.

If you don't show, you loose your deposit.

If you cancel early enough, with someone on the waiting list replacing you, then you can get a refund.

Only issue will be managing this money.

With the monies collected, it can be decided what will be done with it.

1. A punt on the day
2. Fees used for gold membership if you don't punt that day
3. Charity, and earn a badge.

That was my first social and Oh my word, i had a blast. Met wonderful ladies and gents, it was very nice meeting miss veronica, i think i have a crush *wink* *wink*. Next time will only be better.
