This is a bad idea primarily for one main reason, never ever make a single mother feel like she is not doing enough for her kids, while the idea might be well intentioned, I know for a fact that the last thing you offer a single mother who is doing for herself is charity. it is an insult of the highest order. You will see your arse if you approach this the wrong way. If they not asking leave it alone.

They are asking for help. I can only do so much. So why not do for each other?

So here is my 2c
Help does not have to be in the form of money
Sometimes time and assisting people with something they cannot do or don't have the resources to do can make a big impacf.

Multiple random acts of kindness can end up helping many people. Even if it's a small act

And this doesn't have to be an official NGO
For starters create a simple thread here on the forum and ladies (and gents) can ask for help as they require.
The responses should be via PM or a call and the initial poster can simply respond "sorted or helped out" or similar when they have been helped out.
The intention is to try and assist people
In need.
Now it becomes tricky to ensure ladies and gents don't take advantage but I believe most people are good natured and not out to take people for a ride so hope that will hold true
And lastly this is not for people to get their "begging bowls" out

Anyway I am happy to help where possible and if within my means

I'm glad you mentioned this is not an opportunity for people to get their begging bowls out,
I believe there are many woman who genuinely need help so I think someone who has the time should access each situation so ever ones contributions are given to those who honestly need it

I agree Ramron. Also one has to be careful who you donate money to. Money is very tempting and has wrecked many a decent men. For eg I know of a good man that started a charity to collect money for the street children. He was a religious person as well. When the coffers spilled over into 10million suddenly he and the money went awol. Bottom line money can tempt even the most reputable and respected people.

VF, great initiative, but I also don't think this will end well given what you highlighted about how the ladies treat each other in this industry.

I'm not trying to knock it down, but proceed with caution especially if money will be changing hands.

All funds donated will be transparent and I will have someone trustworthy doing the books. I'm not a scammer and obviously, cautionary measures will be put in place. Every cent will be accounted for and no money will go through any ladies hands. Education institutions will be paid directly and the study materials will be bought for the chosen lady. There will be certain commitments agreed to by the lady with regards to furthering each module of her studies depending on her grades etc.

Nothing is set in stone yet but I am considering ways around the things you mentioned so it doesn't turn into a scamming initiative.

And yes, I am aware that one has to go through tons of coal to find a diamond....there will be disappointments and fuck ups but I have seen ex wgs do this for themselves and although they struggled long and hard, some for years, they pulled through and made something of their lives. I'm proud to know them and they inspire me all the time.

I have no idea what I want to do with my life, so I might as well start somewhere and see what comes of it.

@imafunluvva very well said sir

If help is not money example old cots ,baby food etc that would be helpful.

Im not sure if I agree about the argument that single mothers don't want charity.
If you desperate enough you should put your pride in your pocket and accept help especially if it's for your baby - so that argument is really not valid.
If the mother is too proud for charity then all good this idea is for people who want help.

Also Arizona you have not replied .
Your argument that Veronica can't talk as she is not a single mother is ridiculous.
People assisting in charities don't all have cancer , are homeless etc etc.
Just recently you posted a rather weird post regarding revealing info etc about a punter being rude - that surprised me because as I have stated before the younger SPs on this site look up to you as a mother figure, yet recently you are acting very weird.
Perhaps your account has been hacked ?
I hope that's it cos put me down as disappointed!!

Arz is probably going through her own motions, we all do. We all seem erratic and weird at times. This industry brings out the best and worst in us at times. I'm not aware of the other posts you mentioned, but I think you need to cut her some slack. I'm sure she has days when the mere mention of her being a mother figure makes her cringe. Labels are hard to be consistent to because we are all flawed and change over time.

Good Luck Vee!

I apologise for going off, but I do take it very personally when people think single mother's can't achieve things on their own.

I understand your pain with your mom. I saw it.

Becoming a parent, specially a single parent, is such a huge change in one's life. It is impossible to comprehend until you are one! I didn't mean to insult your initiative.

It's almost condescending and insulting to those of us who have accomplished it, against all odds. I am living proof, that it can be done. But it takes immense sacrifices. I raised 4 children alone.

Your idea is very noble. I wish you the best of luck!

Perhaps your dream will spare some women from the stresses of life.

Good luck! Wishing you every success!

Arz
