Since my view of a R 1,500-00 overnight rate has been challenged, let me put forward some extra arguments at the risk of making myself really unpopular to those receiving the monies. But then again this is not a popularity contest, just a simple conversation about rates. And as we are dealing in a captive market with, for a lack of an acceptable and non-derogatory term to all, sleeping over ladies, or SOL's, please forgive me any unintended cynicism.
1.) The average rate per hour is not R 850-00
2.) It is closer to R 600-00
3.) It is always about the money
4.) It is not even dependant on what is expected, that is secondary.
5.) Deamon can sleep all he likes, he will still be charged a flat fee
Simple law of supply and demand regulates our life macro-economically. Unless the Government interferes and market forces are distorted. No interference here, our current Government has not seen the benefit of legalising (and taxing) this industry as a revenue source. Heavens forbid that they do, the poor girls will just be so much worse off. Paying taxes that are stolen, corruption and the collection of taxes (at source), my head is reeling.
We as individuals are subjected to many external factors that we have absolutely no control over. One is the E-Tolls. That little train is storming down the tracks and the first wave of shit will happen soon to the non-payers. Once that happens, disposable income will once more decline.
We as punters, given the fact that I believe most punters here are employees, have less disposabble income every year. Yes you might get a bonus and an increase, but your expenses are rising faster than your income. So on a real basis, you are getting poorer, unless you are one of the stars and rising rapidly in your field. But then again you would be one of the boys burning the midnight oil with little disposable time on your hands, making you exempt from my selection.
Given the above, to pay for an overnighter, is expensive.
The number of people able to afford it will get less.
So the demand will drop, and given that the supply of SOL's will increase as their daily revenue drops, the price will be adjusted downwards.
Simple law of supply and demand.
Please note that I in in no way trying to get a cheaper overnight rate. The reason for my post is merely to warn those SOL's to tighten their belts and make sure that they provide for a rainy day.
It saddens me to hear of the vast monies being earned by some ladies, and when you ask them about medical aid, 99% of those that I asked see no need for this. If no medical aid, what are the chances of a savings plan ? I would venture the answer is zero. But I digress. This is a topic all on its own.
Times will get tighter. Prepare to winter the storm. This industry will survive, but with changes.
Good luck
