If the ANC promised education to the people of SA, how many years of corruption and incompetence will the SA people tolerate?

The ANC runs a massive risk by educating the population of this country.

Through education people will begin to understand democracy, and the true power of the vote.

Make no mistake the ANC has been very effective at telling the vast majority of South Africans that we need the vote, that the ANC got us the vote, but made damn sure they never explained the power of the vote and democracy.

If they had people would have kicked them out years ago and given another party a chance.

Remember incompetence doesn't have a colour.

Oh yourll are talking about the students here.. I was hoping this was a thread to protest against WG fees.. I'm all for that.. I want to start a protest.. WG fees must fall!! WG fees must fall!! WG fees must fall!!

I find the students' demands to be reasonable, no increase of fees next year. The fact that they have to wage such a struggle to have these institutions freeze the fees should speak to the kind of administration we're dealing with. Imagine if they were to demand free education altogether, what then, Marikana? Sharpeville? I don't have a solution to this seemingly complex problem but I doubt it's as hard as these administrators are making it to be, makes one wonder if they themselves aren't the ones pawning the students for increased government grants. Habib, being a political scientist that he is, could be peeking the politicians' brains.

If I may throw my hat into the ring on this...

A primary education is a right, but a tertiary education is a privilege and it's one that's being squandered in SA right now. Look at the reality on the ground, Eskom has raised prices about 300% in the last 5 years, fuel has gone up more then it has gone down, inflation is up, water is up, the exchange rate has reached an all time low (even under sanctions we had a better exchange rate) and all of this has led to one thing and that is that prices for University must go up.
To say that a 10% increase is astronomical given the surrounding increases in everything is completely unrealistic, if anything it is a very low increase.

The schools have bent over backwards to accommodate the students with all sorts of plans, but this is ignored in the quest for political gamesmanship by the SRC's and Unions.

You know what I see when I see the images that is coming out of these protests, blatant liars. The students are shouting about being poor while taking pictures of the cops with their iPhones and trying to keep their Levi's clean. The girls are screaming about not having money for school with about a R1000 worth of extensions in their hair and a fancy purse on their shoulder.

In the long term what's gong to happen is they might get concessions now, but you will see another Marikana eventually or a student shooting others while he is attacked in a protest.. and they won't have anyone else to blame but themselves.

For the first time in my life I am embarrassed to be South African... And that hurts the most of all.

I wonder, if once these students graduate, will they also work for no annual increase?
