Am I missing something here? R6,400 pm for your car? That's called living beyond your means unless you're making over 60K per month after tax. You can get away with half that for a decent car, brand new. It's about financial prudence. Also, where is it that you have to pay R13,000 rent? Surely you can get a better deal somewhere else?

R13000 for rents is crazy...

@catalyst52

You are missing the point. It's not about the specifics of the numbers in Ms Paige's post.

80 to 90% of the population of the country are struggling to make it financially at present. 37% are unemployed and 60% live under the bread-line.

I think the point of the thread is to highlight that everyone is struggling and so are the ladies in the industry, yet many assume they make bucket loads of cash tax free.

When they highlight this people are quick to tell them to lower there rates as a solution to their financial problems. That's like asking me to absorbe above inflationary increases and take a cut in salary, which hardly seems like a solution.

No Catalyst... Yes you miss something!!! just as any other normal person... I also have the right to own a new car... What car do you think it is? A MERC? No..
A 2 door Opel Adam with a extra motor plan... how on earth do get to 60K? Do you think my clothes, food and makeup is gonna cost me another 30K???? Is that what you pay? Your just another guy who think that a WG have no right to a normal life and think if we own a new car it's beyond our lifestyle... The reason I pay R13 000 for rent is because it's a house with a flat where I operate from so that I don't have to pay a venue R300 an hour to use their room... If I pay a venue R300 an hour with 3 bookings a day it's gonna cost me R900 a day!!! R5400 a week... over R20 000 a month!!! for someone else... Totally ridiculous...So just think for a second... re consider my ass.

I also wanted to comment that she can save a heck of a lot on just that (and the phone lol). iPhone (late models) dont even cost that much. You are being ripped off Ms Paige.

What car do you drive now? If I remember you last had an awesome fancy Adam.
Your rent is equivalent to bond for lots of decent lekker 3 bedroom HOUSES in fairly upmarket neighborhoods. You are being ripped off. Do Reconsider.

@John_Benz

Missing the point buddy

Give me your list of expenses and I'll probably be able to point out a few things you can do differently to save yourself some money. It's normal.

Read from the beginning of this topic. What Ms Paige and the other ladies are trying to point out is that WG's have the same needs as the rest of us. Yet there is a misconception that they see a bunch of clients every day, make loads of cash tax free and should therefore be able to get by easily.

And rather pay a venue R20 000 a month??? You people have no idea what your talking about... You forget that we have families to take care of and can't work directly from a spare room in the house... If it was me, myself and I, by all means, but I have family!! And I'm the only income... Anyway... I have my regular clients who book me because I work alone from home... who will never book me at a venue... because of privacy

Thank you Ladylover for your understanding...

It's true it's tough times ahead for all..

We have normal lives some might not have as much responsibilities like others.

As ms Paige posted most of us has more or less the same expenses.

Some have a bit more due to chronic sick children.
Supporting their parents
Taking care of everything as being single moms..

It's tough out there.

I don't think its fair to comment on others budgets of expensise, if the problem lies there seek help from financial advisor, or read up on cost savings on the net.

I do however want to state, it's a business/carrer your in run it like one.

In my opinion some key aspects
- See that customers return
- Deliver a superior service
- Service must justify cost

I think a lot of ladies forget the importance of costumers satisfaction (that said i also know some chancers can't be satisfied)

Lastly, I think that lots of ladies are trying to make ends meet by increasing the revenue from the 4 visits a week by increasing the rate, instead of increasing the no of visits.....

I totally agree bruv but...

I aint paying R1k for a fone (apple fan - lots of options to own the latest),
I aint paying R7k for a 2 door small car (I never buy them new anyway (buy demos) saw an almost new Range Evoque last week with 1,800 on clock at below half new price) - dead new is an absolute waste due to depreciation - go ask)
R13k house is a fairly decent place to live in cool. no one ever said WGs should scrap it off like hobos no no. I was was just saying it sounds over the top if one is not always guaranteed of a very steady income stream to "commit" to such a high-end life (by most people's standards).
Try securing finance say for a car from such a stance and let me know how you pull it off.....

Sidenote, most top ones (multiracial MG for me) are impossible to secure a booking with (gave up actually) got an impression they are ALWAYS busy (booked) but from this thread, it doesn't sound like it does it ......

Fully agree with you Dirk. It is the quality of service that will make the client return. Increasing the price is not the answer and decreasing the price is also not the answer.

In tough economic times a superior service is however sometimes not even enough. When the general economy stuggles most of us do as well. I think that's the point, WG and client suffer the same, they have the same basic needs and responsibilities. WG's probably even more so as most of them are single parents with families to look after. All they ask from us is understanding.
