I am of the generation of Naledi's uncles.
Apartheid was most virulent and poisonous when I was a young man.
I come from a dirt poor background. An outcast in my own community- because we were materially poor.
So I am in a good position to judge.

So I stand by what I say.
These kids are ungrateful spoilt brats. They would never have survived what I endured under the twin misfortunes of being born in the heyday of apartheid coupled with being born of a dirt poor family.

Because that's what the liberation struggle was about... not voting smart, voting sexy !

Even with all the flaws in the ANC you can only see the good, my dear girl you require glasses...
The cadre deployment system has systematically destroyed every facet of government and all their state owned enterprises.
DHA has ruined our tourism economy.
Our borders are porous to the point of nonexistence.
We live with a level of violence you don't even see in central african war zones.
The SAPS require a 32 Billion fund for legal reparations this financial year, because they insist on corruption and violence.
SANRAL has robbed us all blind.
We are able to fund a security industry in SA that is better armed, faster responding and more secure then our own police and we do it with money per person then SAPS. The fact that we have a security industry that is 5 times the size of the SAPS and we still face crime in these numbers is completely insane.
Eishkom... enough said.
Prasa... do I need to comment ?

But it's ok, you carry voting how you will, it is your right... but, when you are in need of the police and they don't come, when you are in your fourth hour of load shedding, when you are scared to stop at a robot in the middle of the night, I would like you to say to yourself, thanks ANC !!!

I am glad to see the students are not as apathetic as their parents, it is just a pity that they direct their anger on the wrong target. Burning universities is not going to yield the results they want. Perhaps if the target was politicians vehicles, now that may start a change for the better.

Naledi: your fiery temper mixed with intelligence is such a turn on!

Well said Deamonza. Democracy Africa style is when people who can't think for themselves vote for people who only think of themselves.

No, that will start a massacre... we have seen this already, our politicians will always respond with violence when it's their own interests on the firing line....

It ain't a question of apathy.

You could be murdered by the apartheid security police for speaking up.

Consider this... In this last year we have had more human rights violators officially visit SA then ever before. These are the people we are seen to welcome to our shores with open arms... And then we act surprised when we don't getting a seat on the security council.

The SA govt did the right thing by pulling out of the ICC.

When Benjamin Netanyahu, Tony Blair and George Bush are brought before the ICC, then only can the ICC be taken seriously.

Let me first and foremost say that I am all in favour of tertiary fees dropping for next year, as I will be one of the unfortunates paying out R 150,000-00 for yet another year of tertiary studies. And that is not a generalisation. That figure is the actual direct cost of keeping one child at University. That equates to R 13,636-36 per month AFTER tax moneys for 11 months.

Not a lot you would say, but then I havent paid anything else. Not my house, my car, my clothes, my food, my retirement fund, my medical aid, etc. Let alone my punting budget.

And just to answer someones comment about generalising, I believe I said that MOST of the protesters would be unemployed or unemployable. Most would mean anything from 51 to 99 %. Not really a fixed number, but if you look at the passing rate of just first year students then the percentage would be more than 50 %. Easily.

Chmoks is 100% correct when he said that the root of the problem lies at the schools. Standards have dropped dramatically, something like Maths Competency has taken over from Maths itself. What is Maths Competency anyways ? Some Universities now propose an additional year in between Matric and first year just to try and bring students up to speed.

The ANC has done amazingly well looking at the LSM (Living Standars Measure) , creating a solid middle class that they can count for votes, so whatever else they did, they are excellent strategists. But it came at enormous costs, mostly to the private citizen working for a Non-Government institution, and from private companies paying tax. They have to fund hugely inflated and super non-efficient Goverment Departments that is bleeding SA dry. There is where the power base of the ANC lies. Baantjies vir Boeties. But Boetie cannot do the job, or 10 Boeties must do one efficient worker's job.

Emigration is alive in SA, with a steady outpour of qualified workers just so fucking gatvol of all the permanent shit that we have to put up with. Some examples were mentioned previously, so let me not bore you with more of the same.

Yes sometimes we can be proud to be South Africans, but most of the times we are the laughing stock of the rest of the world. We are suppose to be a poster child for reform, and specifically peaceful reform, but 21 years later, the ANC has now become so brilliant at engineering the gangraping of a once succesful economy that the rest of the world has seen fit to let our currency slide into nothing.

Watch what will happen when the farms are being carved up. Starvation will follow as sure as I am writing this tonight. And this from a country that is currently earning billions in foreign currency exporting farm produce.

What is the answer to this ?

Again the answer was mentioned previously. Start with education. It is a long term solution, but maybe in three generations will will have a sophisticated population making informed decsions, not the mindless minions voting for the retention of their salary.

And spare a thought for the really stupid ones, the EFF. Their target market is the LSM 1 to 4, where R 10-00 makes a change to his/her circumstances. Their base is too small, so they are simply stirring. They will get nothing done.

The futility and the resources being spent on allowing idiot to govern is simply mind boggling.

Please forgive spelling and grammar mistakes. I am still under moderation.

And all this after I had such a wonderful afternoon with such a wonderful lady. Just think how acid this piece would have been had I written it before visiting the lovely lass.

No wonder I am driven to drinking excessively, at least the good stuff, as life is too short to drink shit wine. LOL
