The older generation will always look back, and mention their great experiences of yester year as the "Golden Years", but in 10 to 15 years from now, when we are gone, the youngsters of today will refer to the current here and now as the "Golden Years".

As Kooni said all the bad stuff use to happen in the past too and so did some very good things.

But it was never made as visible as it is today.

People just did not have the means or platforms like esa to talk about the good or the bad stuff, people where very isolated in their own little bubbles before the internet changed that. ;)

All though the basic nature of the industry had changed very little over time, there had been a lot of changes that made a difference, it has certainly become easier for ladies to join the industry and for guys to find a lady that fit what they seeking.

The one thing we all hoped would change that hadnt changed yet is the legalisation and laws surrounding escorting.

Maybe my generation of ladies wont be lucky enough to still be around when finally the industry is decriminalize and legalized. But we do hope that it will happen someday.

In the 80's in the old Hillbrow where there was an escort agency on every corner, the going was easy and the pickings was good.
The ladies also plied their trade in places where they would be less easily detected, as SANAB ( or was it the "Drank, Dobbel en Ontug" squad those days) was really on the ball in catching and arresting the working girls.
You could go dancing at the Chelsea and find working girls there.

ESA has changed the whole industry for the better.
"Personal Services" in the Star classifieds were dodgy at best. We were amazed when the half column became a whole column, then 2 and soon a whole page of "massage with a twist", or "stress-relieving massage". And even a whole page of adverts - that was for all the girls in Johannesburg!

You had to call the girl when she was between tricks, or speak to a breathless girl while you knew some other oke was being ignored for a minute.
There were no call-line identity facilities, so a girl could call you back. And we all only had one phone shared with family or work mates, so you didn't want a call back!
From time to time a church would complain to the newspapers, and all the adds would disappear for a few weeks.

Now we can skulk around ESA, get a taste for how different ladies respond to punters. It seldom worked out that way when you arrived at the only girl in the block of flats who had a never ending string of dodgy looking guys come to her door. And if you got stuck in traffic, you couldn't call to say you'll be 10 minutes late.

The current government did put out a bill for public comment in 2022, but it appears as if nothing came of it.

Been in a parliamenty hearing once where it was mentioned and I looked around the room to observe the MPs' faces and it was clear that support is unlikely.

Maybe it's time for the industry to take matters into their own hands. It only take 1000 registered voters and R5000 to register a political party. Need about 50k votes to get a seat in Parliament. Only need one seat to introduce a private members bill.

Tactics for getting support, hmmm .... let's not talk about them publicly...

Wow, they would have my vote. Especially if we can choose a sexy lady from here - like Cicciolina in Italy years ago.
I may even watch parliamentary sessions live....And surely she would not talk more nonsense than our current MPs. And at least she would be good for the eye!
