@ Sassy Cassie, pieterd002, yankee23a, ESA SUPPORT: we are all old enough to recall our recent past (and indeed present), where some enlightened social geniuses decided that to protect privilege and enhance the wealth of similarly-coloured individuals they would keep the darker ones safely separated and subjugated. All sorts of justifications were used, and all sorts of terms were used in a derogatory fashion. In the main, the use of these words continues as does their impact. In most cases the old mindset prevails as well...evidenced by the retorts some posters get and allegations of pulling race cards when perfectly justifiable complaints are made.

@intrepidus... well stated...
I've been reading this thread, not really wanting to get involved.. but you've summed it up in a nutshell...
In a country wrought with racialism it's far better to think before you say...

Wasn't looking at this thread, just saw that my explanation being wiped off the table. Well, can only say what I know, and was just sharing my personal experience with a white boontoo in Centurion.

But for each his own.

Also abundantly clear that I have nothing to do with Cassie, so was not the white knight.

Chmoks, interesting you should mention the cum laude. For that was my usual result in my pre and post graduate studies. But maybe the cum laude refers to cumming lauder ? Been known to cum laud when that moment arrives. Never did get full marks though, but still working on it.

Cheers

Pieter: surely you know that in public platforms sensationalism, often driven by ignorance, wins over common sence ... Walk away
Do not waste time in emparting knowledge to those that choose to remain ignorant

Thanks Dundee you are quite entitled to your opinion although I must point out that you have not read the posts properly and unfortunately chose to lump all posters into what appears to be one category. Rather seperate what each poster is actually commenting on and is speaking too in their respective threads before you so boldly attmept to add value. When you have your facts right then try again. No one is denying the history lesson at all but you really need to stop and think that whats good for the goose is also good for the gander and all sides can play at that game. If people want to throw stones then do it with respect and savvy

@ yankee23a: sides, goose and gander, throw stones, .22, settler, .50...man oh man, what drama...it's pretty simple..."boontoos" referred to "bantus" as per OP's confirmation in response to ESA Support's question to "Dear Madam". The term "bantu" has derogatory connotations. Your posts portray someone with a low comprehension skill-set and stuck in a simplistic problem-solving paradigm, so...I'll drop out of this thread and leave you to what you understand you should do...throw stones with respect and savvy I suppose.

Not the same thing.
The Major General's name is Bantubonke, meaning "all people". The name suggests he belongs to the whole clan or the whole clan approves of/loves him.
