My current read is Dave Grohl's The Storyteller (Tales of Life and Music)

It's great. If you're a fan of Dave and the Foos you'll like this one.

A Universe from Nothing-Laurence Krauss.

If anyone would like to understand how looking at stars on a clear night is actually looking back 1000's & millions of years back in time,in a way that a 14 year can understand, or how planet Jupiter is the OG of our solar system & has had Earth's back for more than a billion years + continues looking out for us by "taking care" of all those that want to hurt us,it's an awesome read.

Lawrence Kraus is a fairly good read, and a pretty engaging speaker. He runs the Origin's Project at ASU and I like him. There are better authors out there in the same field, such as Brian Cox (very current) or Isaac Asimov (very dated but incredibly good reading). And of course lets not forget the god of all things sciencey - Carl Sagan.

The *ENTIRE* "Dune" series by Frank Herbert and his son, starting from the chronological first book "The Butlerian Jihad" which was written by his son and Kevin Anderson. Its about 20 books in all and they are all good, although the ones by Frank Herbert himself (the so called "classic six") are by far the best.

Nice one. Does he write about any surprising influences? I saw a clip of his recently where he was talking about Disco/Funk - The Gap Band in particular - having a big influence on him. Even on Nevermind!

I've gotten into a bad habit of buying really difficult books that I don't finish, so the last thing I was reading was Notes From Underground. Left off where the underground man is mocking utilitarianism and "the lovers of humanity", so I hadn't even made it past Part 1 haha, but I was really enjoying it. Think this thread might motivate me to continue :)

This book caused a little stir when it came out, but for a change it wasn't the religious vs scientists, but philosophers vs scientists, and Krauss and his gang started the beef :P

I've got no problem with the book though, and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

@oraljim do you keep up with Sean Carroll much? He's taken 1st place as science populariser for me.
