Not sure if we allow to discuss this here, but would like to hear the opinion of the forum on the change.
Is it a fair reflection and has justice now been served or not

For murder the sentence is min 15 years. But he has to go back to the court that sentenced him for a new sentence. I just want to know how the judge feels after today that 5 other judges told her she did almost nothing right.

He'll probably get 10 years and his legal team will appeal the sentence.

The same judge that sentence him the first time will be in charge of the new sentencing. Not sure when that will happen, and if he has to go back to prison to await his new sentence, so if we have some law experts here would like to know what will happen next.

I'm no expert but I believe that, as he is currently still serving his previous sentence (albeit house arrest), he wont be hauled back to prison until his trial, where he'll be sentenced for murder.

Either way it goes I do believe he got a sentence closer to what he deserves. Hopefully that fact that 5 judges have told her that she was wrong will force her to pull up her socks.

Closer to what he deserves ? Based on what exactly...
I personally see a few issues with this whole thing as it has gone down. The provable political interference in all aspects of the case. The media driven frenzy that has led to a blood lust for Oscar that is bordering on vigilante. The NPA's inept handling from day one. The way this ruling is read means all legal gun owners are now in a position where they are going to be far to scared to actually defend the lives of those in their house because the interpretation handed down makes no concession for being scared at all...
This case has been driven by the media from day one, there was no presumption of innocence, there was no wait and see attitude, there was mass hysteria that Oscar must hang, nothing more... the IOL poll shows 87% think that Justice is now done... really ? Where was the media when this happened to a certain Blue Bulls player ? I heard nothing but silence and the cases are remarkably similar. Where was the media during the entire few years leading up to this, if he was so well know to be reckless with firearms then why did this only come out now, where was the section 102 hearing, never mind that everything else in his life was reported on. Now suddenly he is portrayed in this particular light ?
Where was the call from all of you when the Blue Bulls player was sentenced ??? Yet for Oscar you all call for his head to mounted on a pike... Stand for all or stand for none... the 16 days of activism means nothing otherwise.
A case in point, a few years ago a doctor shot his daughter in their driveway thinking she was a hijacker, he received no time sentence at all, she was alone, and unarmed and presented no real possible threat but the sentence was so light ?
It is already a serious issue with responsible gun owners as to when they can defend themselves, as of yesterday the law was slightly murky on this and now it is completely obscure... the way this was worded can easily be translated to cover 2 people in that bathroom fully armed and ready to murder but as they were inside the locked bathroom they presented no threat... never mind there was no way of knowing if the bathroom was unlocked beforehand... it is all about the wording and how it can be interpreted.
At the end of the day, Reeva is still dead, Oscar life is still ruined... all that has happened is her family are going to make yet more money cashing in on this story yet again and the NPA is going to wave around a big flag claiming they are heroes for justice when they are the ones who screwed up in the first place, same as they did with Dewani...
The scariest issue for me is that In a country where the legal system is on such shaky legs already do we really want to be allowing this much interference from the political and media agenda's...
We all as citizens expect the law to protect us, how can we expect that when we are happy to see it bent this way and that to our will as we see fit in each particular case...

@deamonza, the difference between the blue bull player was this,(just my opinion) he manned up and admitted guilt, oscar didn't .

@deamonza I have no interest in the politics but rather in the truth and either way I do agree with the last judge. Why didn't Oscar know where Reeva was? How did he shoot 4 shots without a warning shot? After the 1st shot he should of already known it was Reeva. Either way he took a life. I have no problem with guns when they are used in the right manner but a life is a life and karma is a bitch. If his life is ruined it is his own fault. He has nobody else to blame.
