Just a question.
What happened to load shedding.

How are the so-called old power station, miraculously functions 100 % in the middle of winter.

Something not adding up.

Lower demand - some 5000 GW solar installed means that much less demand
New units added to grid - at least 800 GW
A bit of an improvement in unplanned maintenance

Couple of factors

Lower demand from business
Installed solar

And some aid from

Less poor quality coal deliveries through better controls
Maintenance management
Re-employment of the old establishment

Hopefully this is kept up until www.esa.co.za/escorts/viewEscort.php can afford to bring down her prices by 80% so I can afford a taste of that electric thing.

Good governance and a better focus on maintenance. Ramakgopa has done well in his position, and the ANC has got this right finally.

There isnt enough evidence out there suggesting that big business demand is less. Mines and major manufacturers are still operational in South Africa.

As for De Ruyter, well the detail around his tenure will become clearer as time goes on. We will know why load shedding was so bad under him.

the truth is that all this load shedding meant many companies like engineering shops , mines and factories shut their doors permanently , decreasing the demand but at the same time decreasing Eskoms income , meaning the remaining customers will now have to pay more

The big players are able to apply leverage and were not that badly affected. The smaller guys were utterly decimated, many closed down.
