I've had two clients in two days tell me about a group of wg's that advertise on the other site that are scamming guys. The guy calls and enquires about rates etc but doesn't make a booking. Then the next day someone from 'VIP SECURITY' apparently working for the 'pimp' calls the guy and says they must pay X amount for cancelation fee or else they going to hurt their families etc. They give the time and date of the call and say that a location was traced. Apparently these guys actually pay it because they are scared. I heard a recording of the one call that my client played to me that was recorded by his police connection. Apparently the police are aware of this extortion and it's a syndicate targeting the Durban area.

Or even use a telkom phone booth with a tekom card. Lets see them trace that.

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but do these extortionists call u back because your number is displayed on their phone or use like CSI software to trace you.

If you use a smartphone there is an app called true caller ID which gives your information away. Makes it easy for you to identify callers, but it also exposes your identity.

Use a different phone for punting!

Smart phones don't actually come with that app,one has to download it.

These guys are just chancers. They don't have any real way of tracing you but just make you scared.
