Petition against the implimentation of the total ban on Internet Pornography by the South Africa Government.

As you may have seen in the press lately, the South African Films and Publications board has issued a press statement to the effect that all South African websites that offer any sort of adult content (Be it text, images or video), must be cease operation before the 30th December 2006 or face criminal prosecution.

According to an article published in the Citizen newspaper:

"Anyone caught accessing or sending pornographic material via the Internet or from a cellphone will end up behind bars".

The Film and Publication Board (FPB) is in the process of employing content analysts to check

I think someone may have taken this issue out of context.

Unless a new bill has been promulgated in the last week, the only amendments to the FPB ACT lately are in the area of Child Pornography . . .

Check out the following link on IOL for more info:
http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?set_id=1&click_id=15&art_id=vn20040912110803641C321553

And I would imagine that the people on this forum are not into that, right???

Technically what the act is also saying is that if Pete is into child porn I should report him, by identifying him through his IP (you'll notice a little text next to your name say IP Logged) and the time of the connection. His ISP or Company will be identified, afterwhich he can be physically identifed. Not too hard to do in most cases.

Also, if Sally becomes aware of any child porn discussions tantamount to luring children for an alterior purpose or solicitation, then she is also obligated to report that!

The citizen's facts may not have been all that acurate. It seems as if the ban is not only going to effect child pornorgraph. It seems that the gorvenment is going to let some adult sites register with them. Here's some more information and the petition.
