I prefer voicenotes as they are much faster than typing...but the clients are not always in a position to listen to a voicenote. So i would ask if i can send one before i babble away!

VN's are definitely easier and I would also use it instead, but, not everyone is able, privacy-wise to listen, or have earphones.
That said, I often quickly check first if I can VN, and once I get the go-ahead, I do.
