It started with a message flattering, friendly, amusing and engaging.
It warranted a response in the same vein.
I looked forward to our meet but, a niggling in the back of my head .... was it too good to be true.
And so the day arrived...yesterday.
Still that niggle...wondering if I had been played for a fool.
LATE.
Phone off.
Fuck!...I thought. But in typical me fashion I then began to browse all those that had asked for a similar time and putting into play the possibility of replacing what seemed to be a deceit....but stopped with his calling me back.
And yes...late he was and his phone not off but a dip in service at that moment when I called to ask about eta.
What was , was something...I shall put In his words quoted -
"It was an incredible "first encounter".. one of those fine human experiences the great philosophers speak of"
And somehow we were thrown into each others company both having supper, on our own...me sending a thank note for the awesome share I experienced and he responding that he was "downstairs" eating as he felt ravaged.
"Come join me" I said.
"Upstairs?" ...it did make me smile....naughty one! (We did have some unfinished business)
"No.i am here having food too."
All I can say is that I am so much richer in having shared in this younger Gents company.
He shared his perspective on cities, travels, his work....culture and tradition and although I wished to sit and hear and listen and learn more I had to leave as my workday was still not done.
Thank YOU dear one for making yesterday exactly as you put it....
".... an incredible "first encounter".. one of those fine human experiences the great philosophers speak of.."
I am that much more wiser when it comes to much I thought I knew about.
What I thought was too good to be true....actually, was true.
