Tried to visit before the holiday season started, thinking it might be a good way to bring the year to a close. Unfortunately I was ignored at the point I wanted to confirm a booking... :((

WOW! We are touchy today aren't we? Well ok then, since you asked in public I shall respond in kind.
So you were closed the first week of Dec were you? Before going off on a rant I suggest you check your facts my friend, you are just going to embarrass yourself.
I made a request on the 4th and 5th of Dec to arrange a booking for a visit between the 9th and 12th of Dec, HOE only closed on the 13th not so? But clearly such a high class venue is unable to keep up to a commitment to respond when a punter wants to make a booking a week in advance. Yes, I call that being ignored, deal with it.
Your classy response to my vague comment clearly supports the fact that you couldn't be bothered providing professional customer service. And that is exactly my point!
If you don't look after your customer, someone else will. Guess what, they are, and they are doing it very very well!
So while you are running your specials I am spending good money at providers in the business of supplying high quality service in a respectful manner.
If you only had the privilege of comprehending the irony mentioning my glass being half empty...
