Really? I was not aware of this. Don't really punt in the East, so I can't comment on the average for rates.

Is that really how it works?

When I used to work late I charged more after 8. Reason is quite simple. The later it gets the greater the chance that he has been drinking or drugging and the harder I have to work. In my experience most guys after 10 were more troublesome and difficult and even the higher price didnt make things worth it.
I do make exceptions esp if I know the guy and we get along well. But even that can sometimes be disastrous. I do not know what most of my regulars are like after a few drinks. In fact I asked a guy to pls not come at night cos I did not like his drunk self.
Pls take note I am talking from my personal experience. And this is my non-kiss-ass, straight talk opinion. Plus my circadian rhythm dictates that I should sleep 10pm-4am. So I am not a late night person. And thats my reason for charging more the later it gets and if I choose to take a late client.

The day I encounter a sub R 1 000 drought is the day I pack it in.
