Quick question regarding HIV risks.
People are often up in arms to hear about bareback intercourse. This is completely understandable due to the severity of the disease.
However people openly request OWO, and this is regarded as acceptable.
FYI.
The latest HIV guidelines state the the risk of HIV transmission with intact skin in the abscence of blood is as follows.
1) female to male 5 in 10000 with vaginal intercourse
2) female to male 1 in 10000 with oral intercouse.
Ps. I have a background in HIV medicine.

Are you saying that if you have bareback then the chance of getting HIV is 0.05% and oral without is 0.01%?

The chance may be low but it is still there. Don't risk it. Be safe

Absence of blood being the key words.
HIV is transmitted through an exit point and an entry point, meaning there has to be a tear in the skin (which is very easy to get when having bareback) in order to contract it. Even the smallest abrasion.

The risks of getting HIV are low but the consequences of getting HIV is high although less now than previously
HIV is not the only thing you can catch though

It is a scary and touchy subject, I think we're all adults and know the risks but somehow get lost in wanting to get to that place of satisfaction and no worries until you go for your next check up and are praying that results are negative.

When you really think about it,HIV is not the worst illness to contract. It's more manageable than cancer or diabetes.
Iv always said,HIV doesn't kill people, rather the stigma surrounding HIV is the real killer.
Remember when HIV was first discovered it was associated with gay men (GRID) and that made it a "dirty" disease. The fact that most infections are through sex,it make the infected person seem loose or promiscuous.
That type of stigma is dangerous and the best way to handle it is to get educated on it
