Can someone travel internally by bus or by plane with just a copy of an ID. I read somewhere on this forum that an affidavit is required if someone lost his/her passport!

I think if it's been stamp by SAP it wouldn't be a problem.
But rather make sure..

@ Kingsman. You mean just a mere copy will suffice?

If its local a certified copy of your ID,drivers licence I think it can also work.An affidavit that explains what happened with your ID.

I wanted to book someone from CT but she keeps saying she has only copies of her ID and kept saying she could travel with that simple copy. So won't take the chance!

Not all airlines will accept a copy and affidavit. Safair airlines allows for an affidavit without ID copy if the ID was lost but mango and kulula won't accept it. Had a wg who got stranded in dbn by her client and I bought her a mango ticket they did not allow her to board the plane so she bought a Safair ticket and they allowed it.
Phone the airline company first and ask the wg to give you a copy of the ID and affidavit so you know she is genuine....

I boarded a Safair flight with certified copy of my ID. I forgot to pack my ID after sorting some family issues. Luckily among copies of documents I brought back with me there were a few certified copies of my ID. I would never have made my flight if my brother had to go back and get my ID.
P.S my Copies were not certified by SAPS but by a church Reverend who is a commissioner of oaths
