I have noticed people say 'give him a Bells' is there any significance in this or is it just a Saffer saying?

There was an add(or series of adds?) on TV, maybe 15 or 20 years ago, I think. Google it. Maybe its on youtube.

The term comes from advertising that used to run on tv. BELLS is a whiskey. In the advert when someone did something good tje catch phrase "give the man a Bells" was used

I hate Brandy and I love rum and whiskey, but I have been off hard liquor for many years. It is my way of making sure I don't go to prison. Prison life won't aggree with me.
Beer and wine is all I drink.

And i hate whisky. I can drink almost anything else. But whisky just has an absolutely terrible taste. I am convinced that people drink Whiskey simply for the image. Surely not for the taste. I am not that desperate to be "in".
