On 5 December 2017, Ames was found dead in a public park, approximately 20 minutes from her home, Camarillo, California, at the age of 23, Her death was ruled a suicide by the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office. Ames' brother, her close family, her friend Jenna Jameson and numerous media outlets stated that Ames committed suicide following what they described as cyber bullying.[19] In addition to the claims that cyber bullying caused her death, some news reports have claimed that it was caused by her depression.
