Yesterday I herd something interesting on classic FM. It is said that apparently the next world war will be started because of water.

My take on the whole water shortage situation is the earth is made up of 80% of water even I nature for millenniums water has always recycled it's self (Evaporation and Condensation) Even in times when there was draught in the past it was with time overcome.

So help me understand how we have water shortages???

In a discussion about this I was told that our pumps and filter systems are not working but then is our tax money (those that do pay taxes) meant to pay for the up keep of these purification systems??? Then why are they not being fixed or maintained.

What's your take on the subject???

Answer to the above is simple: corrupt, incompetent, useless cANCer cadre cunts.

There is a theory that the last American action in Iraq was not about oil at all but about water. Iraq controls the Tigris and Euphrates rivers which are the major water supply to the region and whoever controls these rivers controls the middle east.

I don't believe that Cape Town and the west coast will ever again get sufficient rainfall to fill the dams and the difference will have to be made up by desalination and underground supplies. Increasing population in the region is the need for more water and climate change thee reason for less water. West coasts of all continents are getting dryer and east coasts wetter.

While water seems to be plentiful the problem is pollution - worsened by the cANCer and inept management of what is useful and left. Add to that the destruction of wetlands and the amount of water fit for human consumption declines a lot.....

I am not an ANC supporter but don't blame it all on them, The worst pollution in the country is due to Acid mine water which was becoming a problem long before the ANC got into power. That is why I will join any fight to stop shale gas extraction in the Karoo where the same sort of pollution could happen.

Water supply is a very complex subject that will not be solved by swearing at the government of the day.

Agree Markymarky. A channel/ river duct system linking all the dams in the country. One dam overflows which then supply's excess to empty damsStorm water captured and not running into the sea etc????

It is not only government (old and past) but corrupt and greedy companies too...a changing climate and a destructive set of practices where wetlands were affected. Some bodies of water may appear all great until you look at what is in that water....Harties is a toxic dump....the water between Carltonville and Potch is full of heavy metals and appear in the fruit and vegetables....

I fully agree - the Karoo is not for fracking!!!! One cannot drink gas or oil...

Is the taxpayer's money not meant to service purification filters to ensure that they have clean water though???

Water is a complex subject and what happens to the taxpayer's money is as complex.
the two come together when the government builds fire-pools!
