In SA, The Citizen reported that a Johannesburg sex worker makes between R3 000 and R4 000 a month, charging R100 for straight sex.

Advocacy group SWEAT estimates that there are between 31 000 and 94 000 sex workers in Gauteng, with the majority being black South African women and a significant percentage from Zimbabwe.

A Stellenbosch University Master's thesis by Ferdinand Chemungha Mukumbang suggests that 1.51% of the adult female population in SA are involved in the sex trade.

The cheating website found that 80% of men will book a sex worker for one hour to "get it over and done with as quickly as possible".

And 50.1% of men find the experience unsatisfying because the prostitute "lacked enthusiasm", and 26.3% said the escort was less attractive than her picture suggested.

What it says is that only a minute fraction of WG's actually advertise on ESA.

29733 women in Gauteng and only 514 on ESA speaks volumes about the actual market,

And where did they get the info and the test sample, how large was the sample interviewed ... who of you have been interviewed or approached for an interview by any one of the studies? Just asking. The stats are of no consequence to me personally and I'm disputung how they arrived at those figures
I just wonder if these figures are not sometimes sucked out of their thumbs. SWEAT for example has very little to do with us on ESA. Their focus is on street girls. And you can ask Nicole in Kempton park how much they helped her. She was told straight they only get involved in high profile cases. So forgive me if I doubt the authenticity of how they arrive at figures.

Does it matter if their focus is on street girls? They ply the same trade you do Nadia. If it's of no consequence to you why are you questioning the statistics. I'm trying to understand what your issue with the article is? I personally think that the number is higher than these figures.

You can go read the article and thesis for yourself. www.w24.co.za/Love/Sex/how-many-sa-men-visit-sex-workers-and-what-is-the-impact-on-sa-women-20170420

Most statistics are wrong.
As one scientist used to say - 90% of all statistics are incorrect.

Interesting that the title of the article: "how many SA men use sex workers, and what is the impact on SA woman" is not even remotely addressed in the article. Typical click bait journalism.

97.3% of all stats are made up.
