Coming from a cosmopolitan upbringing, and having been afforded the opportunity to see much of the world as a young person in her formation years (thanks to my parents), it is intriguing to read and witness the rigid belief and behaviour we as humans stubbornly adhere to.

Why is it that we care to harp on race or gender or creed? Pick on people for their personal differences?
A feeling of discomfort at the mere mention of the words

Black
White

Christain
Muslim
Jew

Gay
Transexual

And many more.

I am sure easier said than accepted to "forgive not forget" and all those other idioms meant to promote peace, when one has not been at the receiving end of atrocities.

But.

We have become more blind with time, easily influenced by the loudmouths, allowing our dignity and right to live in peace to be eroded to such levels giving power to ridicule and bullying.

Our past more influential on our choices.....the future becoming uncertain.

Considering we flood our daily lives with new technology, social media sites....a sign of growing times and civilization at its peak, why are we so backward in our train of thought?

My heart breaks at the reality that humanity is in danger at the hands of humans.
I hang my head in shame as a human.

We all have a right to choose....for our upbringing does dictate much.

How about taking those blinkers off once in a while and allow oneself to see, there may be more to a person, a situation an occurence than meets the eye.

Listen carefully to the rantings of radicals and ask yourself why is it that one identifies with the questionable.

Let the spirit fly and be individual in its freedom.

Now that is what i call self empowerment.

You are so right Russian Bridget. Taking the time and making the effort to inform ourselves thru research and not thru what people have to say is the best method to empower ourselves. Big problem is many of us have gotten very lazy and just accept people's opinions and on that make blind and biased decisions that are destructive in the long term.

I agree with u Michelle. Research and reading can broaden a persons horizons and understanding of things.

Being emotionally mature sadly, i do not believe comes from reading and research.

Empowerment of self. The courage to have individual thought.

Plagiarism is defined as;
" the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own."
Google is indeed a powerful tool.
Go figure.

So true Ms B, we progressed in leaps and bounds in techno but regressed terribly as human kind. The kindness care care for one another is sparse, which leaves us most humans as spiritually lacking (not only in a religous sense). Imagine a world with no wars and atrocities ... but then we would be in 'heaven'. Wait wait I can experience that for a brief moment in your arms.

@Russian B
Bullying is abhorrent.
I can assure you there was no malice intended and I was not referring to Michelle's post.
Keep up the thought provoking and entertaining posts.
Best wishes.

How wonderful we on the same page when it comes to bullies JP.
Some people are just idiots that way.

Was just a bit befuddled as to your original post....couldnt see the relevancy.

Anyways!
