Gentlemen, I just read several financial reports 2014/2015. It shows clearly that the economy is falling down. I've talked with a few friends who run their own companies and they already decide to reduce the employees in next three months. The staffs just don't know yet.
It's a sad news, many families will lose their jobs in 2016 and may not be able to afford the currency inflation. The stock trading markets already show how tough the global economies are. Store up enough money, be ready and the economy winter is coming. ;(

ladies...expect more competition in the next few 3 months says our resident economic reporter
Permanent constant and persistent growth can never be achieved. The market must always adjust itself downward from time to time.
Now don’t think for one minute that I have ultimate faith in our country’s leadership in this matter but I do have an element of faith in dear old Uncle Prav. [ducks behind a wall to avoid all the rotten tomatoes, bottles and insults flying in my direction]
Yup certain things have happened that if avoided would have delayed a market correction or mitigated it seriousness but there isn’t a thing that most of us (as in here on ESA) could have done about it.
Yup it we are going to take a hit. We have before and we will again after this one.
Yup it will affect the poorest most as if appalling service delivery, collapsed healthcare and an educational crisis together with the increasing price of maize and soon to be increasing meat prices were not enough.
Yup the privileged will still complain about the traffic in the solitude of our air-conditioned cars listening to our favourite tracks having eaten a hearty breakfast and reminiscing about last night’s encounter with which ever service provider we were with. We will braai drink and carry on with life albeit with a little less in the way of new luxury purchases. Others to a greater or lesser degree will also be affected.
Yup all this is a pain in the ass. I shall reign back on foreign holidays, attempt to rein in my wife’s love of credit card spending and see if we can get by.
But…
The worse it gets the better the chance of a political correction and thus an economic correction in 2019. The extent to which this happens is in the hands of our respective deities.
Life’s a bitch sometimes, but being depressed about it doesn’t do any good. If one is not leaving then the only option is to knuckle down, roll the sleeves up and keep going forward, doing ones best with a smile on ones face and a “BRING IT ON!” attitude!
I now prostrate myself at the altar of all ESA Forumites in order to receive cries of derision, insults, appeals for my lynching, doubts as to my intellect and so on.
702 recently had a discussion about the hordes of destitute and homeless white families in the PTA north area.
How long to you think it will take before many of the ladies from that region start turning tricks?
Just point out the reHality of it !

@le roux... you summation is close but there is a few things missing that poor old uncle Prav is not going to be able to fix...
The first one is the Unions, while I realize the minimums wage does need to come up, there is also a point at which companies currently suffering economic hardships cannot sustain the dramatic wage increases demanded and the subsequent strikes when they don't get what they want. Given the massive drop in mineral prices the mining sector for example is absolutely in dire straights right now.
The automotive industry is in the same boat, nobody can afford to buy cars brand new anymore given the insane pricing in SA, as compared to the exact same car, from the same factory, being exported... A perfect example is that the people I work for have a contract with Toyota SA to buy a Hilux for $12,000 yet in SA that same Hilux is R400,000... How is it cheaper to buy a car made in SA outside SA and have it shipped all the way across Africa. Then you add in their unions and its a nightmare for them.
Please also note that our markets are also being flooded by much cheaper Chinese products and this is causing a direct drop in manufacturing in SA.
Then we have the government, rampant corruption, zero service delivery leading to massive protests and public displays of anger, nepotism, and a thousand other shenanigans far too nefarious to name and we have a perfect storm all broadcast across the world on 24 hour news cycles...
The reserve bank steps this week are just not going to cut it, the exchange rate will settle for a bit and then once winter gets to SA and Eishkom start their nonsense again we had best hold on because it going to get properly rough I think.
