After the overwhelming response to a similar post last year
and the rush for tickets after I posted about the premier wine show to hit the shores of Uninformed Land, RMB Private Bank has pleaded with me not to make public the dates of the RMB Winex Show until a week before the time to allow the general public an even chance to get tickets for this , the premier wine event, where the winemakers of SA gathers to inform and let us taste the nectar of the Gods they slave to produce through wind and hail and storms and rain and extensive sunshine as the grapes are nurtured to perfection and plucked at the correct times to produce the stuff that dreams are really made of, or for that matter creates it own dreams, or dreamworld, and sometimes the oblivion sought by the overconsumption of this nectar or the profound wisdom that I personally look for at the bottom of each empty bottle or just the juice that makes me pretty, the time has finally come to announce with great fanfare that the RMB Winex show will be at the Sandton Convention Centre again from Wednesday 28 October till Friday 30 October for those interested in partaking of this premier event.

Just a simple request from the organisers : that idiot dancing on his own last year will not be allowed in again. Even after consuming vast quantities of wine, you still can't dance. You will never be able to dance. And please leave the girls alone, they are not your plus 1's. They do not want to dance with you.

That was a long sentence. On an empty stomach. Just imagine how long that could have been if I waited till 07h00 for my first drink...

I am forsworn to eschew all alcoholic beverages in obedience to ancient scripture.
So I shall leave you to chirp in your cups.

Hi Arz, keeping well thanks.

The Winex is at the Sandton Convention Centre from Wednesday 28 till Friday 30 October.

There are quite a number of wine farms exhibiting , and it is open from 17h00 till 21h00.

The tickets are available at Computucket and for the first two night would be R 175-00, which will give you a tasting glass and entrance, where you can then go and taste till your hearts delight.

On Friday night the tickets are R 195-00.

You can also buy wine at the show at cellar prices, so this is pretty much the only chance the Valies will get to a "Wine Tasting a la Cape Town".

Really a nice evening out, I usually go from 17h00 till 20h00 and then supper at Mandela Square afterwards.

I am sorry for the late answer, I am not sure why it takes so long to be moderated.

It is without doubt a really nice event, girls dress up, guys in jackets, all standing around sniffing/ sipping wine, and quite a few impromptu conversations starting up about random wines that you taste.

But as they say, different folks, different strokes. I believe in any case that an event is exactly what you make of it, so come and enjoy and make an evening of it. Making memories are always the best, and infused with some nectar of the Gods, helping to make it more memorable.

Me dancing on my own with my Riedel glass in hand last year was great, till the girl with the blue dress took pity on me and joined me. I have to admit that her boyfriend was a little peeved, and promptly removed her from the scene as soon as the song finished (never got her number, and her face now a little blurry, but she smelt great, and man, she could dance. Probably just holding me up with my two right feet), but the applause that we got afterwards was a memorable memory. Luckily I was also removed from the scene to prevent further embarrasment.

So I vowed not to dance again, so no embarrassing moments this year. But, memories will be made again.

What a wonderful evening. had a great time. Thinking of going back again tonight. So many wines that I just could not get to.

Dunno whats a bigger sin, committing zina or drinking daru. I dunno how some muslims can be crazy and even drink daru.
