I see there is a new movie out, The Escort, it's about a sex addicted journalist that follows a Stanford educated wg around for a story, and of course they fall in love.
For me the plot of some of these movies are just not in touch with reality. Sure it is possible, but it is not a good portrayal of the norm. I get that they want to show that not all wg's stand on corners and use drugs and make her a likeable character by saying she's educated, comes from a sophisticated background, etc. I believe you can still tell a good story and create likeable characters that are far from perfect, by making it more realistic.
I for one would like to see a movie, that is not entirely centred around a love story although there could be elements of love in it, that shows a more realistic portrayal of the industry. I'm also not looking for a movie that swings entirely to the other side and portrays all wg's as drug addicts standing on the corner, because that is also not realistic. Wg's are normal people, and perhaps that sounds boring, but it's the truth. Why must it always be some high flying girl that sees presidents and kings or some druggie on the corner, what about the in between?
Do you girls relate to these kind of stories and characters as they are currently being portrayed? Are there any girls that are keeping a diary or writing a book that could be turned into a script?

Movies are made for one purpose: profit.
Normal does not sell.

Watch The Girlfriend Experience and Discreet, south African movie and I could relate.
The book idea is so tempting but how do I do it and remain anonymous?

Hey Guys,
Interesting enough there is a book close to the industry called Stiletto, it covers massage and stripping in South Africa, it uses pseudonyms but some old hands may be able to guess who the author refers to as she recounts her journey.
That said my publishers have spoken to me about the idea of a book over the years and it has often been felt that there is not a market for it as of yet.
The general consensus is that the South African public is not quite ready for what happens under their noses, old adage of ignorance is bliss considering we are still a pretty conservative country.
For fun though the Lolly Jackson movie script will be with me at the end of the week so at least something fun to read, filming to commence next year.
Regards
Sean

@Lexi I think you misunderstand the term. A ghost writer writes a book on behalf of somebody else.
Eg. Melinda Ferguson wrote Smacked! Then wrote Kelly Khumalos biography, had she decided to remain anonymous, she'd be Kelly's ghost writer, same goes for Joanne Joseph wrt Drugmuled etc
Writing the book is not a problem, the problem is publicity, getting paid for the book etc. Belle didn't remain anonymous for long so....#sceptix
But then again South African journalists are lazy. I could probably find a way to "hide"

I know what a ghost writer is Naledi. You write a book but remain anonymous should you be worried about being exposed you sign a non disclosure agreement with the parties involved.

You know Lexi I was not speaking hypothetically. I did a lot of research on this, pseudonyms, using the word Anonymous as an authour etc.
When I saw this thread I thought someone might come with a loophole of some sort but here we are *yawn*
A ghostwriter is a writer who authors books, manuscripts, screenplays, scripts, articles, blog posts, stories, reports, whitepapers, or other texts that are officially credited to ((another person))- wikipedia
Please note the words in brackets.
So, will I be hiring myself, sign an agreement with myself about not taking credit for my story??
This English *sigh*
