@Gemini many scientists have tried to define WHEN a person becomes fat. One popular measure if the BMI where a person with a BMI of 22+ is considered overweight. But I am sure that you will agree with me and many scientists that a weight lifter (think of someone like Mike Tyson) with a BMI of 23+ may very well be very athletic despite being short and heavy. There are many people that lie in that grey area where they are not slim but are not fat either!(Note I draw a distinction between thick, fat and obese.
