Good evening all. Running this site keeps me on the road for much of the day. There is one thing that really gets me down. On almost every street corner, there is a beggar. I’m by no means wealthy, but I do have food in my tummy every night, a car to drive, and a roof over my head. I’m darn fortunate; I guess most of us who use this resource and forum are.

Yes I know, a touch of emotional blackmail, but it’s for a good cause so lets do it.

Good morning all, any amount would do. My thinking was that R1000 was more or less the price of a 1 and a half hour booking and that paying it to charity would be a sacrifice that one would actually feel. In turn it would have more meaning because one would be making a sacrifice and not just giving expendable income.

Some punters have punting budgets from R5000 to R20 000 for the month. I simply ask that you deny yourself one booking with your favourite lady and give that money to charity. Lets put a positive face on this industry, main stream thinking is likely that punting is an anti-social behaviour. Giving to charity is a pro-social behaviour.

The top earning ladies do from 3 to 5 bookings a day. Sometimes as many as 8. Charging from R600 to R1500 per hour. I have personally seen how way more that R1000 is squandered on the silliest things.

Twice a month I spend R1000 on self improvement books, I love books and read all the time trying to learn as much as I possibly can about a variety of subjects. My days are very tough and 18 hours long, so I do look forward to my 2 weekly book buying cycle. I'm giving my book money to the charity.

Ed - quite a cool initiative you have thought up here, kudos to you. Read back in some of my posts and you will note that I took a bet with a few punters regarding an issue and asked for all proceeds to be sent to your the A.Kriel kinderhuis.

The place is in desperate need of support and holds a very special place in my heart. I called it home for several years and it is there where I learned many of the values that I live by today. I have them to thank for a great deal of where I am today.

If you would like to have an eye-opener pay a visit there and drop off a pick `n pay voucher or something. It will make you realise just how fortunate we are. Too often people think about only the kids there, but spare a thought for the people who work there too - they are faced with seeing the trauma of hundreds of children - each with stories that will make the hardest men cry - and having to try and live normal lives outside of the home. When my 'huis ma' passed away a few years ago it was amazing to see how much of an impression she had made on hundreds of kids just like me who have gotten a stable grounding in their early years. What we never ever realised is that she died a pauper and had sacrifised everything to make sure that some-one else's kids had something extra in their lives.
